Hey there and oooooopppps I forgot to write at the beginning of March!! I will blame my iphone as it didn’t remind me (don’t know what happened!) I remembered eventually so that’s good – and not too late!!
Ok, so as I write, I am coughing (and coughing, and coughing etc…) as I have succumbed to the worst chest infection of my life (no exaggeration!) and have had to cancel two gigs last week and tomorrow’s too now – boohoo indeed! These things do happen to us singers and there is just nothing to do but rest, that is the only medicine that actually works and it’s a hard pill to swallow!! But, upon my return I promise to be back on top form!!
January 6th was my first gig for 2018 and it was busier than they thought it was going to be! People were still in the party mood actually and I remember a girl trying to come up and sing my Scissor Sister’s track (but I did mention it wasn’t karaoke!)
I was then back at The Hollington Oak in St Leonards on January 20th, it wasn’t over-busy but the people that were there really enjoyed it! People came to see me especially which I’m always so grateful for… Songs that were danced to were Blurred Lines, Dakota and All Night Long 🙂
January 27th I was back at The Eastbourne Angling Association, now I remember I really didn’t fancy going out, it was cold and rainy and dark but I was so pleased I did as lots of people turned up to see me, there was a nice warm atmosphere and it was busy too! By 10pm the place was buzzing and it was the perfect evening to brush away any January blues! If you go to my Facebook page you will see Blame it on the Boogie in full swing!
3rd February and Eastbourne WMC was quite busy and the gig actually grew into a really atmospheric gig in the end! It was lively with lots of dancing – people really got into it!! Blondie, The Communardes, Hot Stuff, Three Little Birds – all went down a treat!
On the 10th Feb – what a good night at the Royal British Legion in Polegate 🙂 RBL Lancing came in on a coach and made it ultra busy and there were lots of dancers! Valentines-themed gig finishing with Love is in the Air was pretty perfect and the two main slowies were Close to You and Nat King Cole’s When I Fall in Love. (And I won in the raffle which was a bonus!!)
February 17th at Rusthall Club was busy as there were two birthdays, an 18th and a 21st. They danced of course, especially to Domino, Three Little Birds (reggae always is a hit!) and Uptown Funk and You’re the One That I Want – party atmosphere delivered!
February 24th at The Southborough Club was nice as people came out to see me and it was such a cold night as well! I gave them a good show and they danced and enjoyed the night as much as I did! I gave them two new songs: Don’t it Make My Brown Eyes Blue and Venus!
I remember having to turn around on the way home though as I left my lyric folders on the Club’s wall outside!! Oh well, better than forgetting to get paid and having to turn around (yes I have done that before!)
And that’s the first two month of 2018 done – pretty good going for the start of the year I have to say!
Very excited to have been starting work on 15 new tracks, some absolute classics like Can’t Take My Eyes off of You to the more obscure such as Dream a Little Dream (The Mamas and the Papas), I have new great party tracks like Let’s Twist Again and I did pop a new(ish!) one in there: Cake By The Ocean – so come and see me once I have incorporated all the new songs and have an even better musical experience with your local female singer, me, Justine Clark 😉
Hugs and thanks for the continued support of those who come and see me gig, to the new ones who I hope to pick up this year and thank you yes – I WILL BE BETTER SOON!! 🙂
